Statement

I am an interdisciplinary artist and educator with a diverse sociocultural and multiracial background. My work focuses on our environment and the ways in which social and political decisions trigger changes in nature, which in turn affects our lives. This interconnection between the micro and macro and between society and politics has always been central to my artistic practice. Socio-political decisions and actions are deeply intertwined with preserving our natural environment and maintaining diversity worldwide. To express this idea, I create various works utilizing diverse media—including videos, documentaries, animations, computer-based art, installations, sculptures, and mixed-media pieces. Each work provides a unique perspective on the relationship between environmental and or sociopolitical issues, with my chosen medium thoughtfully designed to effectively communicate the specific message I wish to convey. Art pieces that seamlessly intertwine social and ecological justice reflect my commitment to preserving nature and advocating for freedom. An example is my water video series, which skillfully combines microscopic images of water with animation and footage to address the essential role of water in sustaining life. My collage series also denounces the connection between corporate money and deforestation. Exploring how policies and inequality affect society. In Under the Skin I merge documentary and animation to expose the inhumane aspects of the American immigration system while visually exploring the links between social and environmental realities.
